NIST Welcomes New Students Through Orientation Program at Shivapuri
Kathmandu
Nepal NIST Higher Education organized an orientation program
for newly enrolled students of BCA , BBM , B. Tech. Food Technology and B.Sc.
Microbiology, bringing together students, faculty members, and staff for a day
of hiking, team activities, project presentations, and friendly competition.
The program was organized with the aim of helping new
students become familiar with their peers and the NIST community while
providing an opportunity to begin their college journey beyond the conventional
classroom setting.
Hiking and Exploration at Shivapuri
The program began at Green Valley Resort, Shivapuri, where
students, teachers, and staff gathered before starting the hike.
The group then set out along the hiking trail, enjoying the
natural surroundings of Shivapuri. The hike provided students with an
opportunity to interact with their classmates, teachers, and staff in a relaxed
environment.
The route offered scenic views of the surrounding greenery
and natural landscapes. A waterfall along the trail was one of the highlights
of the hike, giving participants an opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of
the area and capture memorable moments together.
The hike also encouraged students to interact with one another
and build connections with their new classmates.
Students Participate in Group Activities
Following the hike, participants returned to Green Valley
Resort for lunch. After the break, the orientation program continued with a
series of project-based activities.
Students were divided into groups and assigned project work
that required them to collaborate, exchange ideas, and develop their
presentations as a team.
The activity provided students with an early opportunity to
demonstrate creativity, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Project Presentations and Judging
The completed projects were presented by the student teams
before a panel of judges.
Each group presented its work, explaining its ideas and the
process behind the project. The presentations created an engaging environment
as students demonstrated their ability to work together and communicate their
ideas before an audience.
Following the presentations, the judges evaluated the
participating teams based on their overall performance.
Two teams were selected as the winners of the competition
and were recognized for their performance and efforts.
While the winning teams received special recognition, the
activity provided all participating students with an opportunity to gain
practical experience in teamwork and presentation.
Bringing Students Together
The orientation program brought together students from BCA,
BBM , B. Tech. Food Technology and B.Sc. Microbiology, creating an opportunity for students from
different academic disciplines to interact and connect.
The participation of faculty members and staff further
contributed to the welcoming atmosphere of the program, allowing students to
interact with members of the NIST community outside the formal classroom
environment.
The combination of outdoor activities, group work, and
presentations provided students with a balanced introduction to college life.
A Meaningful Start to College Life
The orientation program marked the beginning of a new
academic chapter for the students. From exploring the trails of Shivapuri to
working on projects and presenting their ideas, the day offered students an
opportunity to experience learning, teamwork, and community in a different
setting.
For the newly enrolled students of BCA, BBM, B. Tech. Food
Technology and B.Sc. Microbiology, the program provided a memorable
introduction to their life at NIST.
As they begin their academic journey, the orientation served
as a reminder that college life extends beyond classrooms and examinations it
is also about building relationships, gaining experiences, and becoming part of
a community.
NIST Higher Education extends a warm welcome to all its new
students and wishes them a successful and rewarding academic journey ahead.
