Introduction

In the short run National College has already achieved prominence as one of Nepal’s most innovative and enterprising educational institutions in the field of Bachelors’ and Masters’ degree level studies in
Microbiology. We strive to establish it as one of the apex educational institutions of Nepal.National College was established in 1998 AD with anobjective to pursue excellence in higher education in
Science and Technology.

Salient Features

Regular Classes: 18 theory classes (1 hour each) and 6 practical classes (4 hours each)/week.
Guest Lectures: Guest lectures from expertise of concerned fields are organized. Journal Club (JC): JC is compulsory for all students. Seminar: At least one seminar is compulsory for each student. However students have ample opportuni es to present their research as well as literature materials in seminar, journal clubs and conferences.
Group Project Work: Group research project is compulsory for each student in each semester.
Professional Development Class Series: Research and presenta on skill development.
Faculty: Academically sound faculty members. This fact can be vouched by the fact that our faculty (Dr. Pramod Poudel) received Young Scientist Award provided by NAST.
Dissertation: Dissertation is compulsory for all students
Others:
*Visits in different laboratories and industries relevant to their syllabus
*On Research Methodology is provided for research students
* Internship at assigned Hospitals/Research Laboratories (Medical Microbiology), Food Industries (Food & Industrial Microbiology).

Eligibility

The candidates who have passed B.Sc. Degree with major in Microbiology, Biochemistry and BMLT from Tribhuvan University or Equivalent Degree from Tribhuvan University or any other university recognized by Tribhuvan University are considered eligible to apply and can study masters in Medical Microbiology, Food & Industrial Microbiology.
Application forms can be obtained from the admission office of College. All applicants should submit the complete application forms as per the details mentioned there on. All the applicants should appear the entrance examination conducted by Tribhuvan University.

Course Structure

Four year course (Yearly system)
Total Marks: 2000
  • First year: Basic sciences, Engineering and Microbiology
  • Second Year: Food science and fundamental food processing & Engineering
  • Third year: Product technology, Quality control and 10 days industrial trip
  • Fourth year: Food plant Management, Storage and Packaging, Dissertation is compulsory, 45 days inplant training program

There is a strong demand for Food Technology graduates both locally and abroad. The B. Tech graduates have ample opportunity to pursue higher studies in the country itself and abroad. In the food industry, graduates work in applied research, plant and food process management, packaging, quality control, product evalua? on, product and process development and technical consultant to manufacturing and marketing.
